Our Story

About the Owner

Proudly a French-Weaver, Tammy Kampschroeder is the owner of Amazing Garment Repair, where she has worked since Judy Rehyle opened the shop on February 15, 2005.

Originally from Iowa, Tammy earned her Art History degree from the University of Kansas. Tammy spent the better part of two years teaching art to K-8th grade students at Allen Village School and Pembroke Hill. After teaching, Tammy worked at her family’s shop during the day, and fell in love with learning to weave at night. This new love of weaving set a new trajectory for Tammy’s life, which has led her to owning Amazing Garment Repair.

Outside of work, she enjoys time with the family, especially camping and playing games, as well as helping out neighbors and giving back to the community. Tammy is very passionate about giving back to others in the community and supporting local businesses. She finds purpose and fulfillment in helping others succeed and feel important.

She lives in Overland Park with her husband, Paul Kampschroeder, and their two sons, Max and Lewis.

Part of Tammy’s passion for helping others stems from the birth of her son Max and his diagnosis of Noonan’s Syndrome. Noonan’s syndrome is a genetic disorder that prevents normal development in various parts of the body. Tammy and Paul feel very blessed that Max has been able to live a mostly healthy life, and that he is an intelligent and ever-growing teenager. Because of this support, and the rarity of Noonan’s, Tammy’s hope is to raise awareness regarding Noonan’s Syndrome, and raise money for that community.

The Overland Park shop at 97th and Metcalf specializes in restoration of garments as well as mending, tailoring and alterations.

Pride in One’s Work

I love to be able to create something and give something life that someone thought was maybe lost. It could just be their favorite pair of pants, their lucky tie, whatever that is, or something that is passed down through a family. And just to be able to restore, and just give back the ability to wear it.
